Akwaba! Weozor!!! Welcome!!! On arrival at the Kotoka International Airport, we will pick you up in an air-conditioned vehicle to the hotel. Get refreshed from your flight and join the welcome dinner.

Road trip to the historic and oldest European buildings south of the Sahara, the Cape Coast and Elmina Castles established in 1555 and 1482 respectively. These castles are the famous “slave castles”, or large commercial forts built on the Gold Coast of West Africa (now Ghana) by European traders. The castles were originally a Portuguese feitoria or trading post and later used in the Atlantic slave trade to hold enslaved Africans before they were loaded onto ships and sold in the America especially the Caribbean. The ‘Gate of no return’ was the last stop before crossing the Atlantic Ocean. These castles are now recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. Night in Elmina.
You will visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Mausoleum, Independence Square also known as the Black Star Square. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Mausoleum located in downtown Accra, the capital of Ghana is the final resting place of the first President of Ghana and Africanist, and his wife Fatia Nkrumah. The museum houses immense cultural and historical artefacts relating to Ghana’s independence. A tours at the park give visitors in-depth history of the Sub-Saharan struggle for independence. The Black Star Square also known as the Independence Square is a major landmark on the edge of Accra and located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Osu township. It serves as a tribute to the nation’s inspiring past. Commissioned by Ghana’s first President Kwame Nkrumah in 1961 to pay homage to late Queen Elizabeth II, the Independence Square is notably the second largest public or city squares in the world.
Participants depart to Ho, the Oxygen City in the Volta Region of Ghana. Upon arrival in Ho, you will be treated to a special welcome reception with music and cultural dance performances by a local cultural group. You will meet with the stakeholders of Adanu i.e the mayor and some members of Parliament for a presentation on Adanu. This will be followed by an evening of history from Gold Coast to Ghana to be delivered by a renowned historian. Night in Ho.
As part of your giving back to the underprivileged, you will visit a rural community where you will work together with the locals on an ongoing school project. You will also interact with the women of the community to learn about their daily life routine and challenges. You will be assigned to a family each to learn how to prepare some local foods which is their main economic activity. You will have fun games with the kids in the village. Night in Ho.
Going back to Accra, you make a stopover at Akosombo and take a tour of the Akosombo Dam where Lake Volta, the largest man-made lake in the world by surface area is dammed to generate hydro-electricity power for Ghana and neighboring countries i.e Togo. Lake Volta is the main water system in Ghana and has a surface area of 8,502 km2 and a volume of 148km3 making it the world largest artificial reservoir. You will also visit the Cedi Beads, where you learn about bead making and could make your own bead as souvenir. Night of entertainment and socialization. Night in Eastern Region/Accra.
Program participants will visit the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana to learn about cocoa production in Ghana. Ghana is the second largest cocoa exporter in the world. Cocoa is the chief agricultural export of Ghana and Ghana’s main cash crop. Night in Eastern Region/Accra.
Accra Art Center is where local artifacts are made and shops for souvenirs. The art center is a one-stop place for all local merchandise and a home to authentic Ghanaian arts and culture. This place feels like home to art enthusiasts and one can have a live viewing of an artist as they create a masterpiece. The National Museum of Ghana commissioned on 5 March 1957 as part of Ghana’s independence celebration is hived in the vibrant heart of nation’s capital Accra is the largest and oldest of six African museums managed by the Ghana Museums and monuments Board. The Museum is a trove of objects from diverse domains such as archeology, ethnography, and fine art from Ghana and across Africa. These artifacts offer visitors a rich journey from the stone age period to the recent historic past, offering a tangible connection to the diverse and layered heritage of Africa. There will be an evening of a musical concert at Plus 233.
A free day to yourself and to relax, lunch at the beach and a special farewell dinner.
Debrief with the team, deepart for airport and travel home.
